My favorite singer growing up was Britney Spears. She debuted in 1998 and released her first album in 1999 so I was probably around 8 or 9. The title song, Hit me baby one more time, was probably my favorite song for at least 3 years from the day it debuted. I guess i liked the music because everyone else did, and if i liked a boy band like the Backstreet Boys or N'SYNC, i would be called gay. And believe me no 8 year old boy wants to be called gay. I'm not gonna like I liked the boy band music too, but i wasn't allowed. Britney's music was catchy. I guess hip hop was "in" during that time and I decided to jump on the bandwagon of popular culture and like whoever else liked, too.
